Hemorrhoid Treatment And Relief - Are Haemorrhoids Dangerous?
By Stewart Km
Experiencing pains and itchiness in one’s body is often a normal occurrence. It isn’t a surprise to any of us when we hear of people who itch and have red spots in certain parts of the body. Often it’s an indication of poor health or poor hygiene, which is often easily remedied. But when one experiences discomfort and pain in the lower area of our body, particularly the anal area, then that may cause great alarm to people. Hemorrhoids is one of these diseases that involve the anal area, which causes great alarm. About Hemorrhoids Hemorrhoids is characterized by the swelling of blood vessels located in the rectum. This is caused by great pressure exerted on the rectum – often because of long periods of sitting and heavy weight. While the diagnosis of hemorrhoids does not necessarily equate to the onset of a battle with a life-threatening disease – such as cancer – it does equate however to daily discomfort and pain when there shouldn’t actually be. Many inconveniences are brought about by this disease which a number of people suffer from every day. Overweight For those who are overweight, hemorrhoids becomes an additional worry and extra burden that they have to carry aside from their already unhealthy state. Their lower extremities have to suffer carrying the extra weight on their bodies both from sitting down and standing up. Oftentimes, overweight people don’t treat hemorrhoids right away, as they have other diseases that they deem more important than hemorrhoids. Not only do overweight people suffer the physical pain brought about by being overweight and hemorrhoids, but also the emotional pay accompanied by it. Being overweight already brings to them an emotional burden and having hemorrhoids does the same as well. Having hemorrhoids is not something to be particularly proud of, especially in a society where people get discriminated and looked down upon just because of their diseases in the rectal area. Pregnant Women Pregnant women, who carry extra weight because they’re carrying another human being in their body, are also faced with the dangers of hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids, being a medical condition, is an added risk factor and danger to their child. Drinking over-the-counter remedies poses a risk to the child in the womb. It is common knowledge that taking in medicines during pregnancy is not advised as it can cause future complications in birth or while the child is growing up. Also generally, having inflamed and swelling blood vessels – whether in the anus or in any part of the body – will always pose as a danger to us. There is a huge possibility of these vessels to burst, causing internal or external bleeding – especially in hemorrhoids. There have been recorded cases where the hemorrhoids caused extensive inflammation in the blood vessels that they came close to bursting. It is during these times that hospitalization and possible surgery is required to ensure that the patient does not bleed out to death. Not every case of this disease is as dangerous and extreme as others. There are varying degrees of danger that each case poses to each individual. Yet no matter how great or small the danger is, hemorrhoids can be treated and possibly avoided.
